Talks in York and Catterick

I have just returned to Holy Island after two wonderful days giving talks at both St. Anne’s Church in Catterick, North Yorkshire and the Quaker Meeting House in York.

I could not have wished for warmer and kinder hospitality from both places. It was so good to return to Catterick and update the members of the church about the situation of children in such crisis in the Holy Land and also to talk about the progress of the charity. I was very happy to have Rev. Mike Dixon with me. Mike was the coordinating Chaplain at Durham Prison for many years and it was he who accepted me into the prison as one of the chaplains 24 years ago.

After 45 years it was also fantastic to revisit the Meeting House in Friargate, York and to be able to have a talk and discussion about what is happening with the educational and medical care of children in such desperate need. I was delighted to be with my sister at the Meeting House and to see her, now retired, Headmistress who taught her some (many) decades ago. All in all a great time trying to raise an awareness of the situation of children in need. Thank you to all at both Catterick and York.

Catterick and York Talks

I am looking forward very much to returning to St. Anne’s Church in Catterick on Sunday 28th September. It will be very good to return to this warm and welcoming place to update members of the church about the work of the charity and the situation of children in crisis in the Holy Land.

At 7.30pm on Monday 29th September we will be giving a talk about the work of the charity at the Quaker Friend’s Meeting House, Friargate, York. Even though it has been 45 years since I was last there (as a very young man), I remember the wonderful atmosphere and peace of this place.

New Web Site

A new Web Site has been created today for Abraham’s Children in Crisis. I would welcome any comments and feedback.

Pluscarden Abbey

It has been very good to spend time with Rev. John and Jan Woodside and to be able to reflect on the situation with the children in crisis in the Holy Land. A wonderful visit yesterday to Pluscarden, a beautiful and peaceful Benedictine Abbey near Lossiemouth.

Portsoy Community Church, Aberdeenshire

A lovely and really enjoyable service at the Portsoy Community Church this morning. I was very happy to be able to talk about the charity and its response to what is happening with children in such need in the Holy Land. The warmth of welcome from and the generosity of the church members was absolutely outstanding. Thank you to all who were there and for your great support.

“Preach the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words” is a saying attributed to St. Francis of Assisi and a saying quoted today by John who was preaching at the service.

Not just words but actions as well!

Food for thought!
