“I refuse to let the standards of evil people chip away at my capacity for integrity.” ― Stefan Molyneux
This time in the Holy Land has been
‘interesting’. Being alongside some great and wonderful people and trying, with
varying degrees of success, to share in the helping of those young people who
would otherwise have little or no help. Education, welfare and health has been
our goal – to give a hand to children in real crisis. To ask, listen, learn and
find out what is needed and then to put that into action. All of this with the
backdrop of great goodness, compassion and love on one hand and on the other,
murder, violence, oppression, cruelty, lies, corruption (parts of the church
not excluded) and the general sadness and tiredness of so many. It has been
such a privilege to work and live alongside such resilient and kind people manifested
in the family who has so generously accommodated and cared for me, doctors,
teachers, dentists, social workers, parents and many others who have given so
freely of their energy and time. Over the past few years I have been able to
watch as young people have progressed and grown into good responsible citizens
who will, I hope, bring a brighter future to this sometimes dark place. On
returning to the U.K. I reflect on and share in the disgust at how some adults
can abuse and show cruelty to young people – this behaviour staggers me beyond
belief. I fully realise that this has always been the case but surely now with
all our energy we must stamp out this cancer of a behaviour. If we want any
hope of a decent world then we must care properly and compassionately with the
next generation. We must break this cycle.
